Kamika Ekadashi

Kamika Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of the dark half of the month of Ashadh. Shree Krishna narrated its glories to King Yudhishthir, explaining that Lord Brahma had once described the immense power and spiritual upliftment derived from observing this sacred fast.

One who reads or listens to the glories of Kamika Ekadashi earns merit greater than hosting countless yagnas. Observing this vratt sincerely brings blessings equivalent to visiting all pilgrimage sites, bathing in holy rivers, and giving generous donations to the poor, temples, and saints.

This vratt fulfills heartfelt wishes, brings happiness in this world and the next, and elevates the devotee on the spiritual path. It removes attachment to worldly desires and connects one to the eternal bliss of God. Observing Kamika Ekadashi protects a person from falling into Yampuri (hellish realms).

On this day, one should worship the Supreme Lord using fresh flowers and holy tulsi leaves. Lighting a divo (sacred oil lamp) before God, offering heartfelt devotion, and singing His praises with joy are essential practices of this vratt. During the night, devotees should remain awake, chanting the name of God and singing bhajans and kirtans.

According to the Purans, one who completes this vratt with full sincerity is granted a divine place in Vaikunth, the eternal abode of Bhagwan.
